El Reino Unido calificó hoy de "totalmente injustificada" la decisión norcoreana de suspender la cooperación con el Organismo Internacional de Energía Atómica (OIEA) y de ordenar la salida de los inspectores internacionales.
Así respondió el Ministerio británico de Asuntos Exteriores al anuncio ayer del Gobierno de Corea del Norte de interrumpir la cooperación con la OIEA y de exigir la retirada "lo antes posible" de los inspectores que vigilan la actividad del reactor de Yongbyon.
Un portavoz del Foreign Office añadió que fue "proporcionada" la condena esta semana del Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU a la decisión norcoreana de lanzar un cohete de largo alcance el pasado día 5.
El portavoz pidió a Pyongyang que no suspenda las conversaciones a seis bandas entre las dos Coreas, EEUU, China, Rusia y Japón.
Ese proceso se puso en marcha en agosto de 2003 para buscar la desnuclearización norcoreana a cambio de incentivos económicos.
"El lanzamiento (del cohete) contraviene la resolución del Consejo (de Seguridad) 1718. Hay un sólo camino para Corea del Norte si desea ocupar un lugar como miembro de la comunidad internacional: Debe cumplir con sus obligaciones internacionales y en particular cooperar plenamente con la OIEA para poner fin a su programa nuclear", agregó la fuente.
"Las conversaciones a seis bandas ofrecen los mejores medios para ese objetivo", resaltó el portavoz.
Según anunció ayer la OIEA, Pyongyang decidió reactivar la actividad de su reactor atómico.
