El delantero argentino del Manchester City Carlos Tevez marcó el martes dos goles ante su antiguo club, el Manchester United, para dar a su equipo una victoria por 2-1 en casa en el partido de ida de las semifinales de la Copa de la Liga.
El United, campeón de la Copa, se puso por delante en el marcador en el minuto 17, cuando el City no pudo impedir un centro del centrocampista ecuatoriano Antonio Valencia aprovechado por Ryan Giggs, quien con un simple toque batió al portero Shay Given.
Tevez, quien se unió al City el año pasado, acabó con la ventaja del United tras un tanto de penalti en el minuto 42.
El delantero desniveló el marcador en el 65 tras aparecer sin marca en el área chica, por lo que no tuvo problemas en batir al portero Edwin Van der Sar.
La primera semifinal entre los dos clubes de Manchester desde 1969 se decidirá en el partido de vuelta en Old Trafford, que se disputará el próximo miércoles.
En la otra semifinal se enfrentan el Aston Villa y el Blackburn Rovers. La final se disputará en el estadio Wembley el 28 de febrero.
