La flota naval china desplazada en el Golfo de Adén evitó el ataque de una embarcación pirata a dos barcos mercantes cuya bandera no reveló, informó hoy la cadena de televisión CCTV.
Según la misma fuente, el incidente ocurrió el viernes cuando los mercantes alertaron de que una embarcación que navegaba a gran velocidad intentaba atacarles con armas.
Tras recibir la llamada de socorro, tres buques chinos fueron desplazados a la zona desde diversos puntos y también un helicóptero.
Uno de los navíos divisó la embarcación sospechosa y disparó tres balas de advertencia, obligándola a alejarse, dijo la CCTV.
Después escoltó a los dos mercantes hacia su destino en el Estrecho de Bab-El-Mandeb, que separa las costas de Arabia de las de Africa y pone en comunicación el mar Rojo con el océano Indico.
