El presidente de CiU, Artur Mas, ha animado hoy al ex presidente del Gobierno José María Aznar (PP) a ir a Catalunya a aprender el catalán, y así quizá "se le abriría un poco más el cerebro y podrá hablar un poco mejor el inglés".
En un mitin ante unas 600 personas en el Puerto de Tarragona, replicó así a Aznar, que opinó que los padres catalanes acabarán llevando sus hijos a Albacete para que aprendan castellano.
El líder de CiU invitó al ex dirigente popular a comprobar que los estudiantes catalanes sacan las mismas notas de castellano en la Selectividad que los de Albacete y Valladolid, y le sugirió que "se quede en unas colonias y aprenda el catalán fuera de la intimidad".
Mas acusó al PP de menospreciar la lengua catalana, y argumentó que cada ataque contra el catalán es un "insulto al pueblo de Catalunya y un menosprecio al país, a su historia, a su tradición y a sus instituciones", pero también al esfuerzo del pueblo, que ha conservado en todo momento la columna vertebral de su identidad.
"Hablar catalán en Europa sirve para ser nosotros mismos, sirve para que seamos catalanes, que no es poca cosa", exclamó.
