Por el momento, no parece que haya diferencias de pronóstico. Este virus causa síntomas gripales parecidos a otros patógenos de la gripe.
¿Es común usar antivirales en una gripe común grave?
No es estrictamente necesario utilizar estos medicamentos y un especialista debe valorar su prescripción. Es lo que estamos haciendo de momento con los casos sospechosos de gripe porcina.
¿Es necesario el tratamiento preventivo en todaslas personas que han tenido contacto conun caso confirmado?
Es una de las opciones que se utiliza para cortar la cadena de transmisión. Estaría indicada para personas con contacto estrecho, para enfermos de base en los que la gripe pudiera ser problemática y para trabajadores sanitarios y policías. Pero hay que esperar a conocer las recomendaciones de los organismos sanitarios internacionales.
¿Protegen las mascarillas?
El virus se transmite por vía respiratoria, por lo que una mascarilla adecuada ofrece un índice de protección elevado. Las que no cubren todas las zonas de la cara necesarias también serían eficaces, pero en un grado aún por determinar.
