El secretario de Estado de Turismo, Joan Mesquida, reconoció hoy en el Senado que el sector pasa por un periodo de "incertidumbre" y que la situación es "difícil y complicada".
En la Comisión de Industria, Turismo y Comercio de la Cámara alta, Mesquida afirmó que la crisis económica está afectando al turismo, que "no es un oasis", por lo que le afecta la retracción del consumo y la contención del gasto, con una disminución en la rentabilidad de los negocios.
Para ello, explicó Mesquida, se trabaja en una doble dirección: la mejora al acceso a la financiación y la aceleración de las medidas del Plan 2020 que se deben adaptar a la situación que estamos viviendo.
Según Mesquida, se trata de "una suma de esfuerzos sin precedentes porque el turismo debe ser una cuestión de Estado".
Tras subrayar que las economías occidentales y la española han entrado en una fase de recesión económica, apuntó que la revalorización del euro ha provocado la caída de flujos turísticos y el refugio de algunos turistas fuera de la zona euro.
