El gobierno de México recibió hoy material y equipo médico procedente de China valorado en 4 millones de dólares, más un cheque por otro millón, para afrontar el brote de gripe AH1N1, que ha contagiado a 312 personas en el país, de las cuales 12 han muerto.
Esta es la primera ayuda internacional que llega a México desde que se informó hace ocho días del brote de gripe y fue recibida personalmente por el presidente Felipe Calderón, quien acudió la madrugada de este viernes al aeropuerto de la Ciudad de México.
Un avión 747 comercial de carga llegó con más de 3 millones de tapabocas, 50.000 viseras protectoras, 2.000 paquetes de ropa de aislamiento, 100.000 unidades de ropa protectora, 400.000 fundas para zapatos, cerca de 250.000 pares de guantes, algodón, papel desinfectante, 80 termómetros portátiles infrarrojos y dos cámaras termográficas, estas donadas por la empresa China Con.
Calderón dijo que con el material de esta primera ayuda internacional se van a reforzar las reservas que hay en clínicas y hospital para "hacer frente a este problema".
También dijo que en este fin de semana llegarán a México otros cargamento con ayuda humanitaria de España, Japón y Estados Unidos.
Este apoyo lo "aceptamos porque se trata de un esfuerzo internacional para contener una epidemia que es también internacional", dijo el mandatario.
Por su parte, el embajador de China en México, Yin Hengmin, dijo que adicional a esta ayuda, la Cruz Roja de su país entregó a la Cruz Roja de México 50.000 dólares.
El material fue cargado en unos 30 camiones del Ejército mexicano y será llevado a las instalaciones del ministerio de Salud.
