El ministro israelí de Finanzas, Yuval Steinitz, acusó hoy al Consejo de Derechos Humanos de la ONU de ser antisemita por aprobar el viernes el Informe Goldstone, que acusa a Israel y a Hamás de cometer crímenes de guerra durante la ofensiva israelí en Gaza, en diciembre y enero pasados.
"Se trata de un intento antisemita de decidir que lo que se permite a EEUU en Afganistán, a Rusia en Chechenia y a Turquía en el norte de Irak no se permite a Israel, un estado que intenta defenderse de (los ataques desde) la franja de Gaza", declaró el ministro a la radio del Ejército israelí "Galei Tzahal".
El CDH apoyó en Ginebra dicho informe, elaborado por el jurista sudafricano Richard Goldstone, que exhorta a Israel y a las milicias palestinas en Gaza a investigar de forma independiente lo sucedido durante la campaña militar del invierno pasado en la franja, en la que murieron 1.400 palestinos y 10 israelíes.
En caso de que las partes no investiguen lo ocurrido o las pesquisas no cumplan con los estándares requeridos, la ofensiva en Gaza podría ser analizada en el Consejo de Seguridad de la ONU a fin de trasladar el caso a la Corte Penal Internacional de La Haya.
Steinitz aseguró a la emisora que Israel "no permitirá que un judío vaya otra vez como cordero al matadero (en alusión al Holocausto). El Estado judío tiene el derecho y la obligación de defender a sus ciudadanos no menos que EEUU, Rusia o Turquía".
El titular de Finanzas también acusó a la Autoridad Nacional Palestina (ANP), que acogió con beneplácito el apoyo al informe, de aprovechar cualquier oportunidad a su alcance para hostigar a Israel en cada foro internacional.
"Tenemos que pensar seriamente si queremos seguir dándoles donaciones y desarrollando la ANP. No podemos continuar poniendo la otra mejilla", remachó el ministro y diputado del gobernante partido Likud, del primer ministro Benjamín Netanyahu.
