La misión de observadores de la Unión Europea, encabezada por el eurodiputado española José Ignacio Salafranca Sánchez-Neyra, se reunió hoy con el partido político chií libanés Hizbulá, según informó el partido.
En un comunicado, el responsable de Relaciones Internacionales del grupo chií, Amar el Musawi, confirmó la reunión, en la que los asistentes revisaron el proceso electoral, que culmina el próximo 7 de junio con la celebración de elecciones parlamentarias.
Musawi transmitió a los integrantes de la misión que tanto Hizbulá como el resto de los partidos están dispuestos a "garantizar que las elecciones se celebren en una atmósfera calma y estable".
"Sin que haya presiones sobre los votantes, sin que se distribuya dinero (a cambio de votos), sin luchas sectarias o cualquiera otra forma de intimidación física o moral", prosigue el comunicado.
Fuentes de la misión de observadores evitaron, en conversación telefónica con Efe, aportar información sobre el encuentro.
La de la UE es la mayor de las misiones extranjeras que supervisarán el proceso. Su objetivo es evaluar si los comicios cumplen las normas internacionales.
