El escritor, comentarista de radio y televisión y ex parlamentario británico Clement Freud, nieto del psicoanalista Sigmund Freud, falleció a los 84 años en su casa de Londres, informó el jueves la cadena BBC.
Freud, quien nació en Alemania en 1924, tuvo una vida rica y variada, convirtiéndose en un popular comentarista y anfitrión en programas de radio y televisión, pero también fue elegido para el Parlamento.
Reconocido también como cocinero, Freud falleció el miércoles por la tarde, informó la BBC, sin dar la causa de su muerte.
Dueño de un ingenio mordaz, Freud se caracterizó por incitar el humor en el público a partir de una imperturbabilidad que le permitía apelar al humor sin inmutarse. Durante más de 30 años fue una de las principales atracciones del programa de juegos de la BBC "Just a Minute".
Freud fue elegido miembro del Parlamento por el Partido Liberal en 1973 y ocupó el cargo durante casi 14 años, aunque en un primer momento debió esforzarse por ser aceptado en el mundo cerrado y elitista de la política.
A Clement Freud, hermano del famoso pintor Lucian Freud, lo sobreviven su esposa y cinco hijos, varios de los cuales están involucrados en los medios de comunicación y las artes, así como 17 nietos.
