Al menos cuatro soldados estadounidenses de la OTAN desplegados en Afganistán han muerto a causa de la explosión de un artefacto improvisado en el sur del país, informó hoy la comandancia de EEUU.
En un breve comunicado, que no precisa la provincia en la que tuvo lugar el ataque, el mando militar se limitó a explicar que dos soldados de la Fuerza Internacional de Asistencia a la Seguridad, bajo mando de la OTAN, perdieron la vida ayer como consecuencia de la explosión y otros dos fallecieron debido a la gravedad de las heridas recibidas.
Los ataques de la insurgencia contra las fuerzas de seguridad afganas e internacionales son frecuentes en el país centroasiático, especialmente en las provincias del sur y el este de Afganistán, donde los talibanes tienen sus principales plazas fuertes.
Este año se ha convertido en el más sangriento para las tropas extranjeras, con 410 bajas militares, de las que 243 son estadounidenses, según el portal independiente "icasualties.org".
