Al menos tres personas murieron hoy en un supuesto ataque de un avión no tripulado de Estados Unidos en la región tribal de Waziristán del Norte, uno de los principales bastiones de los talibanes en Pakistán.
Según el canal televisivo "Dawn", que no precisó sus fuentes, varios misiles impactaron contra un vehículo cerca de la ciudad de Mir Alí, un área cercana a la frontera con Afganistán.
Los aviones no tripulados estadounidenses han lanzado este año un centenar de ataques en las áreas tribales paquistaníes, la mayoría en Waziristán del Norte, un feudo de guerrilleros talibanes y de militantes de la red terrorista Al Qaeda.
El Ejército paquistaní combate actualmente a la insurgencia talibán en varias áreas del conflictivo noroeste y en todas las demarcaciones del adyacente cinturón tribal salvo en ésta.
Estados Unidos lleva meses presionando a Pakistán para que lance una operación militar en la zona.
