Aunque entre los 10 jugadores elegidos por votación popular para ser titulares de los respectivos equipos de la Conferencia Este y Oeste, en el Partido de las Estrellas, no estuvieron ningún latinoamericano y español, dos quedaron en el tercer lugar y otros dos fueron cuartos.
Mientras que el ala-pívot Pau Gasol, de Los Ángeles Lakers, fue el jugador español y latinoamericano más votado de los ocho que se presentaron en las papeletas para ser elegidos después de recibir 1.051.784 votos.
Sin embargo, un año más tuvo que conformarse con el cuarto puesto en la lista de los aleros de la Conferencia Oeste, superado por Carmelo Anthony, Tim Duncan y el alemán Dirk Nowitzi.
Los mejores colocados fueron el brasileño, de los Nuggets de Denver, Nené Hilario, tercero en la lista de los pivotes del Oeste, el mismo puesto que ocupó el dominicano Al Horford, de los Hawks de Atlanta, en la del Este.
Hilario recibió 364.543 votos, mientras que Horford logró 270.532, pero no fueron los jugadores latinoamericanos más votados, ya que esa distinción le correspondió al escolta de origen dominicano Trevor Ariza, de los Rockets de Houston.
Ariza, que recibió 645.937 votos fue el que tuvo mayor apoyo popular, seguido por su compañero de equipo, el argentino Luis Scola (580.243), ambos dentro de la posición de aleros y en la Conferencia Oeste.
Para la posición de bases, el escolta argentino Manu Ginóbili, de los Spurs de San Antonio, ocupó el séptimo lugar con 465.211 votos.
A pesar que tuvo menos votos, el español Marc Gasol, de los Grizzlies de Memphis, ocupó el cuarto puesto de la lista de pivotes de la Conferencia Oeste, por detrás de Hilario, después de recibir 353.155 votos.
Mientras que su compatriota, José Manuel Calderón, de los Raptors de Toronto, fue el que quedó más bajo en la lista de los bases de la Conferencia Este, al ocupar el noveno puesto con 292.909 votos.
