El papa Benedicto XVI ha nombrado a Braulio Rodríguez, hasta ahora arzobispo de Valladolid, nuevo arzobispo de Toledo y Primado de España, informó este jueves el Vaticano.
Rodríguez, de 65 años, sustituye en el cargo al cardenal Antonio Cañizares, nombrado el 9 de diciembre pasado Prefecto de la Congregación para el Culto Divino y la Disciplina de los Sacramentos.
Braulio Rodríguez es uno de los obispos más polémicos de España. El pasado mes de diciembre se mostró en contra de la campaña del Gobierno a favor del preservativo, a la que calificó de "zafia".
En una pastoral aseguraba: "¿Por qué tenemos que soportar semejante desmesura? ¿Quién es el Gobierno para adoctrinar a los adolescentes, menores de edad, en áreas que competen fundamentalmente a los padres? ¿Por qué nuestros políticos no se dedican a resolver los verdaderos problemas de los ciudadanos, en vez de tratar, con su supuesta progresía, de ganar votos de jovencitos burgueses proporcionándoles sexo seguro, que es inseguro y que embrutece?
Rodríguez también defendió en plena polémica del crucifijo, la presencia de éste en las clases, después de que la Justicia obligara al colegio público Macías Picavea a retirar los crucifijos de sus aulas y espacios comunes, después de que un grupo de padres así lo demandara desde 2005.
Entonces, señaló que el "preocupante fracaso escolar" en el sistema educativo español "no es culpa de que en algunos colegios públicos, muy pocos, haya algunos crucifijos colgados en la pared del aula escolar", ya que en el resto hace tiempo que "han desaparecido, se han guardado en el armario o colgado en otros lugares menos dignos".
Además, el pasado mes de marzo, cambió la Fundación Social Emilio Álvarez Gallegopor un parking de de 14.300 metros cuadrados y 502 plazas.
