El delantero de la selección paraguaya de fútbol Salvador Cabañas, que sufrió un disparo en la cabeza en la madrugada del lunes, mostraba signos favorables pero seguía en estado grave, dijo el martes el médico que lo atiende.
El jugador del América de México, de 29 años, fue herido tras verse involucrado en un incidente en un bar de Ciudad de México que aún investigan las autoridades y en el que el intento de robo ha quedado descartado.
Ernesto Martínez, el médico que lo operó tras el incidente, dijo que las próximas horas son cruciales para hacerse un esquema más claro en la evolución del delantero.
"La situación es favorable, sigue estando grave, pero tenemos que cuidarlo todavía intensamente", dijo Martínez el martes en rueda de prensa.
Cabañas fue herido en el baño de un conocido local nocturno, en un barrio acomodado de la ciudad. El futbolista se encontraba en el local junto a su esposa, según el fiscal de la capital, Miguel Ángel Mancera.
"El plan de hoy es iniciar la nutrición a través de una sonda y poder empezar a trabajar con medicina física para evitar que los músculos pierdan su fortaleza", señaló Martínez.
Cabañas inició su carrera en 1997 en los equipos 12 de octubre y Guaraní de Paraguay. En 2001 fue fichado por el Audax Italiano de Chile y finalmente llegó a México en 2003, donde comenzó a jugar en el Jaguares de Chiapas. Desde 2006 milita en las filas del América.
Aunque en 2006 fue convocado por la selección paraguaya no llegó a jugar ningún partido. Pero en la fase de clasificación para el Mundial de Sudáfrica fue uno de los jugadores más importantes de la selección y jugó 14 de los 18 partidos de la eliminatoria.
