El Congreso Nacional de Honduras ratificó ayer la salida del país de la Alianza Bolivariana para las Américas (ALBA), impulsada en diciembre pasado por el presidente de facto, Roberto Micheletti.
El decreto ejecutivo enviado por Micheletti fue ratificado por la mayoría del Congreso, de 128 escaños, con el voto en contra de los cinco diputados del partido Unificación Democrática (UD, izquierda) y del legislador Toribio Aguilera, del Partido Innovación y Unidad-Socialdemócrata (PINU-SD), informó una fuente parlamentaria.
Micheletti acordó la salida de la ALBA en una reunión del Consejo de Ministros celebrada el 15 de diciembre y al día siguiente mandó el decreto al Congreso para su ratificación.
El ministro de la Presidencia, Rafael Pineda, subrayó en ese entonces que la retirada de la ALBA no implicaba suspender relaciones comerciales con los países que integran esa iniciativa, que lidera el presidente de Venezuela, Hugo Chávez.
En ese sentido, según Pineda, se mantendrán las relaciones con Petrocaribe, una alianza que permitió que durante la Administración de Manuel Zelaya, derrocado el 28 de junio pasado, Honduras comenzara a comprar combustibles a Venezuela a crédito, además de recibir cooperación para diversos proyectos sociales.
Pineda explicó que la decisión de denunciar el tratado de adhesión a la ALBA se tomó porque "algunos países de esa organización no han tenido (hacia Honduras) el trato respetuoso que corresponde a un país".
Venezuela incluso "amenazó con invadir a Honduras" tras la destitución de Zelaya, dijo Pineda.
Sectores políticos y empresarios se opusieron en 2008 a la adhesión de Honduras a la ALBA por considerar que Zelaya estaba llevando al país al "Socialismo del siglo XXI" que promueve Chávez.
Los países miembros de la ALBA, al igual que la mayoría de la comunidad internacional, no reconocen al régimen de facto de Micheletti, ni las elecciones que se celebraron el 29 de noviembre pasado que dieron el triunfo a Porfirio Lobo, del opositor Partido Nacional.
Honduras se adhirió a la ALBA el 25 de agosto de 2008 en una ceremonia que se celebró en Tegucigalpa, donde Chávez calificó de "pitiyanquis" a los sectores que se oponían a la integración del país centroamericano a esa iniciativa.
La adhesión a la ALBA fue ratificada el 9 de octubre del año pasado por el Parlamento hondureño, entonces presidido por Micheletti.
La ALBA también está integrada por Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Dominica, Antigua y Barbuda, y San Vicente y las Granadinas.
