El Partido Autenticidad y Modernidad (PAM), creado por el amigo del rey Mohamed VI Fuad Ali El Himma, ha sido el vencedor de las elecciones municipales celebradas ayer en Marruecos, según anunció hoy el ministro marroquí del Interior, Chakib Benmusa.
En una rueda de prensa en la sede del Ministerio, Benmusa informó de que el PAM ha obtenido un total de 6.015 concejalías (un 21,69 por ciento de los cargos que se ponían en liza) y 1.155.247 votos, un 18,72 por ciento del total.
En segundo lugar, se situó el nacionalista partido Istiqlal, del primer ministro marroquí, Abás el Fasi, con 5.292 ediles (un 19,08 por ciento), seguido por la Agrupación Nacional de Independientes, con 4.112 (un 14,82 por ciento) y la Unión Socialista de Fuerzas Populares (USFP), con 3.226 escaños (11,6 por ciento).
Los islamistas moderados del Partido Justicia y Desarrollo (PJD) han obtenido la sexta posición por número de concejales con el 5,45 por ciento, aunque en votos su apoyo ascendió al 7,47 por ciento del total.
Sin embargo, el PJD ha sido la formación más votada en los principales centros urbanos con más de 35.000 habitantes, donde se votaba por listas en lugar de a candidatos uninominales, con un 12,8 por ciento de los votos.
La participación final se situó en el 52,4 por ciento, un punto y medio menos que en las municipales de 2003.
El resultado del partido de El Himma era una de los mayores interrogantes de estos comicios, después de que decidiese retirar su apoyo al Gobierno y pasar a la oposición, justo antes del comienzo de la campaña electoral.
El Himma, compañero de estudios del rey, fue nombrado jefe del gabinete de Mohamed VI cuando éste todavía era el príncipe heredero, en 1998 y, tras la muerte del rey Hasán II, pasó a ocupar el cargo de ministro delegado del Interior desde el que ejerció como "hombre fuerte" de la política marroquí.
Sus seguidores han desarrollado una agresiva y dinámica campaña electoral que, a la vista de los resultados, ha logrado galvanizar a los electores, sobre todo en los núcleos rurales.
