El músico Phil Collins, de 58 años, no volverá a tocar la batería... por ahora. El ex líder de Genesis, cuya carrera musical ha sobresalido con las baquetas, se dislocó una vértebra del cuello el pasado abril.
Desde entonces es incapaz de sujetar los palos de una batería porque ha perdido la sensibilidad en los dedos. Como ha reconocido el cantante al diario alemán Abendblatt sólo podría aporrear la batería si se pegara las baquetas a los dedos.
Pese a las dificultades, Collins planea publicar un nuevo trabajo el año que viene, compuesto por 30 temas clásicos de la Motown. Lo cierto es que como ha venido haciendo los últimos años, no tiene previsto arriesgar demasiado: "Quiero que las canciones suenen exactamente igual que las originales", señala en el periódico.
Phill Collins vive actualmente en Suiza y sus útlimos trabajos han estado vinculados a la elaboración de bandas sonoras de películas de la factoría Disney. Poco éxito pero bien remunerado.
