El poeta uruguayo Mario Benedetti, que está ingresado en un sanatorio de Montevideo desde hace cinco días, se encuentra "estable" y "lúcido", informó hoy el centro médico.
Según el informe médico difundido hoy por la Dirección Técnica del Hospital Impasa, el poeta y novelista uruguayo, de 88 años, está en la Unidad de Cuidados Intermedios de la citada institución.
"Al día de hoy, se mantiene estable, sin fiebre y sin diarrea. No requiere de medidas invasivas, para mantener sus signos vitales, y se encuentra lúcido", explicó el hospital montevideano.
El autor de "La tregua" fue ingresado el pasado viernes al empeorar de una enfermedad intestinal previa, en un estado de salud "delicado" y "reservado", dentro de un "cierto nivel de gravedad", según indicó el martes, en un primer informe, el equipo médico que lo atiende.
El escritor sólo puede recibir las visitas de familiares cercanos y no están autorizadas otras personas.
Benedetti estuvo ingresado tres veces el año pasado en el mismo sanatorio de Montevideo.
La primera de ellas, entre enero y febrero, tras sufrir una enterocolitis que le causó deshidratación; otra vez en marzo, con problemas respiratorios, y por último en mayo, a causa de una descompensación.
Autor de más de 80 libros de poesía, novelas, cuentos y ensayos, así como de guiones de cine, Benedetti ha obtenido el Premio Reina Sofía de Poesía Iberoamericana (1999), el Premio Iberoamericano José Martí (2001) y el Premio Internacional Menéndez Pelayo (2005).
Su última obra publicada, el poemario "Testigo de uno mismo", fue presentada el pasado mes de agosto y actualmente estaba ultimando un nuevo libro de poesía cuyo título provisional es "Biografía para encontrarme".
