El vicepresidente estadounidense, Joseph Biden, puso ayer en duda la imparcialidad de las elecciones iraníes en la primera y relativamente cauta reacción de Washington tras la victoria de Mahmud Ahmadinejad. "De momento", dijo Biden, EEUU aceptará los resultados oficiales pese a las "muchas preguntas" pendientes.
Preguntado sobre la legitimidad de la victoria de Ahmadinejad, Biden no ocultó cierto escepticismo. "Tengo mis dudas por la forma en la que han suprimido la libertad de expresión y las manifestaciones".
Cautela europea
También en Europa la victoria del ultraconservador presidente iraní ha sido recibida con cautela. La presidencia checa de la UE se limitó a señalar que la Unión está "preocupada" por las supuestas irregularidades en los comicios, así como por la violencia en Irán, informa la agencia Efe.
El ministro alemán de Exteriores, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, fue un poco más contundente al señalar que quedan "muchas cuestiones abiertas" sobre la transparencia de las elecciones iraníes.
