El presidente del Racing de Santander, Francisco Pernía, ha confirmado esta tarde que el técnico del Málaga, el asturiano Juan Ramón López Muñiz, entrenará a su equipo la próxima temporada.
López Muñiz, que acaba de conseguir que el Málaga ascienda a Primera, sustituye así en el banquillo de El Sardinero a su paisano Marcelino García Toral, con el reto de conducir al Racing de Santander en su primera participación en la Copa de la UEFA.
La contratación de López Muñiz era un secreto a voces desde hace semanas en Santander. Sin embargo, el Racing no la ha confirmado hasta que el Málaga ha terminado la temporada, para no interferir en los partidos en los que conjunto andaluz se jugaba el ascenso.
Pernía ha confirmado la noticia esta tarde, minutos después de que terminara el partido Málaga-Tenerife (2-0), mientras recogía en la localidad de Unquera un galardón concedido al Racing por los organizadores de la Fiesta de la Gaita de Cantabria.
"Hace cinco minutos que ha acabado el partido y el Málaga ya es equipo de Primera, así que puedo reconocer lo que hasta ahora, por respeto, no había dicho y es que Juan Ramón López Muñiz va a ser el nuevo entrenador del Racing", ha señalado el presidente del club.
Como Marcelino García Toral, Juan Ramón López Muñiz se formó como jugador el Sporting de Gijón.
