El primer ministro de China, Wen Jiabao, llegó hoy a Delhi para una visita oficial de tres días, la segunda que efectúa desde 2005.
Wen aterrizó en Delhi hacia las 14.00 horas locales (8.30 GMT), acompañado por una delegación de altos cargos que incluye también a unos 400 hombres de negocio, y fue recibido por la secretaria india de Exteriores, Nirupama Rao, según el canal nacional.
La agenda de hoy del primer ministro chino incluye la visita a una escuela en el sur de la capital y un encuentro con representantes de su embajada, a lo que seguirán mañana sus contactos oficiales con autoridades indias.
Wen se reunirá el jueves con el ministro indio de Asuntos Exteriores, S.M. Krishna; con la presidenta, Pratibha Patil; y con su homólogo indio, Manmohan Singh, con quien se espera la firma de una serie de acuerdos que reforzarán los intercambios comerciales entre los dos gigantes asiáticos.
Según la agencia oficial, el mandatario chino ofrecerá una conferencia sobre las relaciones bilaterales y acudirá a la celebración del sexagésimo aniversario del establecimiento de relaciones diplomáticas entre ambos países, antes de partir el viernes hacia Pakistán, en una visita de tres días centrada en la cooperación energética.
El pasado mes de mayo, Patil se reunió en China con su homólogo, Hu Jintao, en el primer encuentro en diez años entre los jefes de Estado de sendos países.
La India y China han mantenido relaciones turbulentas en las últimas décadas: ambos países todavía se disputan áreas de la frontera común, y China critica que el líder espiritual tibetano, el Dalai Lama, siga manteniendo un Ejecutivo en su exilio en la India.
China, que venció a la India en una breve guerra en 1962, mantiene además relaciones estratégicas con su rival sudasiática, Pakistán.
