El presidente del PP, Mariano Rajoy, ha dicho hoy que su objetivo es que del XVI Congreso salga un partido "más abierto que nunca al conjunto de la sociedad española, de centro y ligado única y exclusivamente a los intereses generales".
Rajoy ha hecho estas declaraciones tras la visita que ha realizado a la Feria de Muestras de Valencia, donde esta tarde a las cuatro comienza el Congreso de los populares en el que previsiblemente será reelegido presidente del PP.
Acompañado por el presidente de la Generalitat, Francisco Camps, la alcaldesa de Valencia, Rita Barberá, y el presidente del Comité Organizador del Congreso, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, Rajoy ha asegurado que mañana cuando presente su candidatura apostará por un Partido Popular "unido, integrado y abierto a todos los españoles".
"Este partido sólo se debe a los españoles, a los que le votan y a los que no nos han dado su apoyo", ha aseverado el presidente del PP, quien ha apostillado: "Este partido está abierto a todos y desde sus principios y convicciones quiere dirigirse a todos los españoles, vivan en el lugar de España donde vivan, sean quienes sean y sea cual sea su condición o pensamiento".
Ha señalado que en este Congreso "sólo hablan los que tienen que hablar: los 3.025 compromisarios del PP que representan a los 700.000 militantes" y que han sido elegidos por el "democrático procedimiento que establece el Partido Popular".
Rajoy ha explicado que ellos serán los que elijan la dirección del Partido Popular, el equipo y fijarán la línea política para los próximos tres años.
Además, el presidente del PP ha agradecido a Camps y a Barberá su trabajo para organizar el Congreso y ha destacado que ambos "han demostrado una vez más que saben hacer muy bien las cosas".
