El presidente del PP, Mariano Rajoy, tendrá mañana en el Congreso su primer debate con el jefe del Gobierno, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, tras su reelección como líder de su partido, en una sesión que girará sobre la reciente cumbre de la UE.
Zapatero subirá a la tribuna del Congreso para informar sobre los resultados del Consejo Europeo de los pasados días 19 y 20 y, posteriormente, tomará la palabra Rajoy para defender su posición.
Este debate tiene lugar tres días después de que Rajoy haya sido reelegido presidente de su partido con el apoyo del 84 por ciento de los compromisarios que participaron en el Congreso Nacional de Valencia.
Zapatero repasará los diferentes asuntos tratados en Bruselas, entre los que destacan los efectos del triunfo del no en el referéndum de Irlanda sobre el Tratado de Lisboa.
Los Veintisiete acordaron posponer una solución al próximo Consejo Europeo, que se celebrará en octubre dentro de la presidencia francesa de la UE.
En la cumbre, también se aprobó el levantamiento de las sanciones diplomáticas a Cuba con el fin de reanudar el diálogo con el régimen castrista y se analizaron posibles medidas para afrontar la crisis provocada por el aumento del precio del petróleo y de los alimentos.
