El presidente del PP, Mariano Rajoy, se ha mostrado hoy a favor de abrir un debate sobre la cadena perpetua revisable, una pena que existe ya en "muchos países".
Rajoy, en un desayuno organizado por el PP de Madrid en un hotel madrileño, se ha manifestado al respecto después de que el presidente del partido en Andalucía, Javier Arenas, al cumplirse un año del caso de Marta del Castillo, abogara por fomentar este debate con la explicación de que "la calle" lo demanda.
La secretaria general, María Dolores De Cospedal, se limitó a afirmar ayer que su partido recoge esta percepción de la ciudadanía, aunque no precisó si el PP traducirá esto en iniciativas parlamentarias.
Rajoy ha hablado hoy de la cuestión. "Debatir no es malo. El PP ha dicho que es bueno que se abra un debate porque lo pide la calle", han sido sus palabras.
Ha añadido que la cadena perpetua revisable existe en "muchos países", de igual forma que en España se introdujo el cumplimiento íntegro de las penas a pesar de que algunos sectores calificaron la propuesta como "un disparate".
Pero el cumplimientos íntegro de las penas existe ahora en España, y por ello, el líder del PP ha sentenciado: "No hay que tener miedo a un debate sobre el asunto, sobre todo si se trata de la cadena perpetua revisable".
