El base internacional Raúl López, que no seguirá en el Real Madrid, ha emitido un comunicado público de despedida en el que asegura que su deseo era continuar en el conjunto blanco de baloncesto.
"Ante la comunicación que me ha hecho llegar el Club acogiéndose al derecho unilateral que les asistía para romper el contrato de cara a la próxima temporada, quiero aprovechar para agradecer el trato que me ha dispensado la afición, así mismo, agradecer el apoyo mostrado por mis compañeros y entrenadores, y sobre todo, un agradecimiento especial a 'los del carrito del pescado', indica en un comunicado remitido a Efe.
Raúl López señala que su "deseo era el de poder continuar en el club" y que le había señalado a su "gente" que no salieran "al mercado hasta tener comunicación oficial del club".
"Ésta se ha producido y ha provocado que mi carrera profesional se oriente por otros derroteros", añade el base, quien no especifica su futuro y asegura que durante las cinco temporadas en las dos etapas en el Real Madrid se ha "implicado en el proyecto al 100%", como "siempre" ha hecho durante su carrera "para tratar de lograr los objetivos que ha marcado el club".
El base internacional, subcampeón olímpico en Pekín'08, se formó en el Joventut de Badalona, club del que pasó al Real Madrid en 2000 antes de recalar en los Jazz de Utah en 2002.
Volvió a la ACB en 2005 a través del Akasvayu Girona y regresó al Real Madrid en 2006. En esa misma temporada fue uno de los protagonistas del doblete 'blanco' Liga-Copa ULEB.
Ahora, tras tres campañas seguidas el Real Madrid no seguirá en el equipo blanco, que inicia una nueva etapa con el técnico italiano Ettore Messina en el banquillo.
