El legado musical del histórico trompetista Dizzy Gillespie estuvo anoche presente en el XXIX Festival Internacional de Jazz de Granada, a través de un cambiante grupo de compañeros de escenario que, encabezado por Slide Hampton y James Moody, llevan su nombre por el mundo.
Estos dos veteranos en plena forma, junto al bajista de confianza de Gillespie, John Lee, y el pianista Cyrus Chesnut, invitaron al también pianista Willie Jones III y al tompetista David Weiss a unirse a esta gira.
El concierto que más rápidamente se ha vendido en esta edición no defraudó las expectativas y tanto el tenorista Moody como el trombonista Hampton mantuvieron su timbre y formas, como Chesnut dio toda una clase magistral de cómo tocar el piano-jazz, según ha informado hoy a Efe la organización.
