El estadounidense Andy Roddick, segundo favorito, se clasificó hoy para las semifinales del torneo de Brisbane al derrotar con suma facilidad al chipriota Marcos Baghdatis, quinto cabeza de serie, por 6-2 y 6-3.
Roddick se enfrentará por un puesto en la final al sudafricano Kevin Anderson, que necesitó tres sets para superar al colombiano Santiago Giraldo.
El campeón vigente del torneo australiano, el sueco Robin Soderling, pasó a cuartos tras derrotar al alemán Michael Berrer. En esa ronda jugará contra el australiano Matt Ebden, que se desembarazó sin problemas del octavo preclasificado, el uzbeco Denis Istomin. A Soderling le espera en esa ronda el ganador del partido entre el checo Radek Stepanek y el alemán Florian Mayer.
En el cuadro femenino, la francesa Marion Bartoli alcanzó las semifinales sin desgaste. La cuarta favorita se impuso a la checa Barbora Zahlavova Strycova cediendo solo tres juegos.
