El grupo alemán Scorpions se despedirá de su público con un nuevo álbum titulado "Sting in the tail", que se publicará en marzo próximo, y una gira mundial por los cinco continentes, después de 45 años de actividad.
La banda de rock duro ha anunciado su retirada en un comunicado publicado en su página web (www.the-scorpions.com) en el que expresa su deseo de poner fin a su "extraordinaria carrera" con un disco que consideran entre "los mejores" de su carrera y una larga gira que comenzará en Alemania.
"Estamos de acuerdo en que hemos llegado al final del camino", afirma el grupo alemán en su mensaje a los fans, a los que agradecen su apoyo incondicional a lo largo de las más de cuatro décadas de carrera de la banda.
Fundada en 1965 por el guitarrista Rudolf Schenker y el batería Wolfgang Dziony, Scorpions ha vendido 75 millones de álbumes en todo el mundo y es autora de éxitos como "Rock like a hurricane" y "Still loving you", que fijó un modelo de la balada de "heavy metal" y les abrió el camino a nuevas audiencias.
El despegue comercial del grupo llegó en los años ochenta, con álbumes como "Blackout" y "Love at the first sting". Su último disco hasta la fecha, "Unbreakable", fue publicado en 2004.
