El ministro de Exteriores surcoreano, Kim Sung-hwan, expresó hoy su confianza de que la OSCE y otros organismos internacionales actuarán "con resolución sobre cualquier acto de agresión" procedente de Corea del Norte.
"Quiero aprovechar para plantear los recientes ataques sobre nuestro territorio", dijo Kim en su intervención en la fase final de la cumbre de jefes de Estado y de Gobierno de la Organización para la Seguridad y la Cooperación en Europa (OSCE), que se celebra en la capital kazaja, Astaná.
El ministro calificó el ataque norcoreano con fuego de artillería contra la isla surcoreana de Yeonpyeong de "provocación" contra su país, "de acto ilegal y una atroz y clara violación de la Carta de la ONU, de los armisticios y acuerdos bilaterales".
La agresión, que dejó cuatro muertos -dos civiles y dos militares-, "es un acto inenarrable, cobarde e inhumano", dijo Kim, al tiempo que denunció que "es inaceptable lanzar fuego indiscriminado contra civiles inocentes".
Agregó que su país está obligado a condenar totalmente este ataque, al igual que lo debe hacer la comunidad internacional "en los términos más rigurosos".
Por otra parte, expresó su preocupación por el programa nuclear norcoreano y aludió a la funcionamiento de nuevas centrifugadoras para el enriquecimiento de uranio que calificó de "amenaza para la estabilidad".
"Nuestro Gobierno ha hecho todo lo posible para que se desmantelen estas instalaciones", dijo tras expresar el compromiso de su país con la desnuclearización y aseguró que Seúl continuará "instando a Corea del Norte a actuar en ese sentido".
Finalmente, manifestó la esperanza de Corea del Sur, como asociado de la OSCE, en que esta organización "salga reforzada (de esta cumbre) para dar una mejor respuesta a los retos del siglo XXI".
