El Real Madrid sigue a la espera de un tropiezo del líder liguero, el FC Barcelona, éste amurallado desde el 8 de marzo (seis jornadas consecutivas) en los seis puntos de ventaja, por lo que la visita del Sevilla al Camp Nou, el próximo miércoles, se convierte en la nueva esperanza madridista a siete jornadas del fin.
Los seis puntos de distancia se han convertido en una barrera psicológica para el Barça. "El Madrid habla de la hipótesis, nosotros de los seis puntos", comenta Xavi Hernández, líder espiritual blaugrana sobre el terreno de juego.
El equipo catalán logró mantener a raya al Real Madrid en el margen de los 12 puntos de diferencia, desde que éste último se situó en la segunda plaza en detrimento del Valencia (11 de enero, jornada decimoctava).
Han transcurrido desde entonces trece partidos de Liga y el Real Madrid redujo esa docena de puntos a la mitad, aunque la cifra (seis) permanece intacta hace ya mes y medio.
El Sevilla, uno de los equipos en mejor forma del campeonato, lucha por una de las plazas de Liga de Campeones. Su derrota en Valencia le obliga ahora a concentrarse en su propósito, más aún por los problemas de agenda: el domingo recibe la visita del Real Madrid.
Mientras desde Barcelona se mira con desconfianza la visita del Sevilla, tercero en la Liga, el Real Madrid jugará el martes, 24 horas antes que el Barça y en su estadio, frente al Getafe.
Este derbi madrileño tiene un claro color local, a pesar de que el vestuario blanco se ha visto mermado por las lesiones.
Numancia, el colista, y el Athletic de Bilbao también disputarán el martes un interesante enfrentamiento por mitigar el vértigo del descenso.
Los partidos Osasuna-Málaga, Deportivo-Almería y Betis-Valencia se jugarán, como el mencionado partido del Camp Nou, el próximo miércoles.
La trigésimo segunda jornada concluirá el jueves con cuatro encuentros: Sporting-Espanyol, que es una pelea directa contra el descenso; Villarreal-Recreativo y Rácing-Atlético de Madrid, con la Liga de Campeones como telón de fondo, y un Mallorca-Valladolid típico de dos equipos en la zona media de la tabla clasificatoria.
