El Tau Cerámica acaricia ya el título de campeón de la Liga ACB, tras las dos victorias que se trajo el pasado sábado a Vitoria en sus enfrentamientos contra el Axa-FC Barcelona, por lo que hoy tratará de reeditar el triunfo absoluto conseguido en la campaña 2001-2002.
En los anales del club baskonista que preside Josean Querejeta se recuerda con agrado la fecha del 18 de junio del año 2002, día en que se logró el primer título liguero ante el Unicaja Málaga por un inapelable 3-0, tras haber llegado al final de la liga regular en cuarta posición y con desventaja de campo, al igual que en esta campaña.
Sin embargo, habrá que ser muy realistas y tener las debidas precauciones ante la visita al Pabellón 'Fernando Buesa Arena' (22:00 horas) del Axa-FC Barcelona, un rival que ya ha derrotado en Vitoria al Tau en cuatro de los últimos cinco partidos disputados por los 'culés' en la pista del barrio vitoriano de Betoño.
Los últimos triunfos del equipo 'blaugrana' en pista alavesa se dieron en la temporada 2006-07 (76-77; 76-83; y 79-95) y, el último de ellos, en la liga regular de la campaña actual (77-81).
Los seguidores del equipo vitoriano han completado ya todo el aforo del Pabellón 'Fernando Buesa Arena', con cerca de 9.700 espectadores en las gradas, por lo que el ambiente no puede ser mejor cuando todavía quedan más de veinticuatro horas para el inicio del encuentro.
Si el equipo barcelonista del técnico Xavi Pascual quiere llevar la eliminatoria final a su pista del 'Palau Blaugrana' deberá ganar los dos partidos de esta semana en la cancha de Vitoria, el primero hoy y el segundo este viernes.
