Tommy Robredo, clasificado hoy para la tercera ronda de Wimbledon tras un largo partido de 3 horas y 29 minutos, reiteró de nuevo su antipatía por esta superficie y comentó que en hierba "en ningún momento te sientes tranquilo" y que su expectativa es, simplemente, "sobrevivir cada día".
El de Hostalric se impuso al austríaco Stefan Koubek por 3-6, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5) y 6-1 para meterse en tercera ronda del cuadro.
"Es un gran torneo, y todo el mundo quiere jugar bien, pero si me preguntan si me gusta, la respuesta es no. Mi expectativa aquí es sobrevivir cada día", comentó.
Del encuentro disputado hoy, señaló que Koubek había resultado un rival "incómodo"; que tras el primer set, la cabeza le había "explotado" y lamentó que le había costado muchísimo sacar de fondo.
"Me he calmado en el tercer set. He aguantado bien y en el quinto, él, de cabeza, ha reventado y físicamente iba muy cansado y yo iba de 'subidón' y he podido ganarlo", resumió el jugador.
Explicando el momento en el que lanzó la raqueta al césped, el jugador señaló que en esta superficie "sufres todo el rato. En ningún momento te sientes tranquilo, corres medio agachado, medio no... Es complicado. El que hoy él fuera zurdo, ha puesto un 'handicap' más al partido".
Fue rotundo al incidir en su clara antipatía por la hierba, una superficie a la que no se acostumbra y en la que no disfruta: "Es imposible que me guste".
"Yo vengo predispuesto a ganar el máximo de partidos posibles pero es como si te dicen 'haz una fideua y no sabes hacer el sofrito. O girar la tortilla sin que se caiga. Yo lo intento, pero prefiero poner el plato y girarla", comentó.
