El grupo francés de medios Vivendi SA causó daños a inversores al dar mala información antes de una importante operación, dijo el viernes un juzgado estadounidense.
La demanda colectiva acusó a la firma, al ex presidente ejecutivo Jean-Marie Messier y al ex jefe financiero Guillaume Hannezo de engañar a los inversores sobre las condiciones financieras de Vivendi antes de una fusión por 46.000 millones de dólares (unos 31.000 millones de euros) con Seagram y Canal Plus.
Las acciones de Vivendi perdieron un 90 por ciento de su valor entre octubre de 2000 y agosto de 2002, período cubierto por la demanda.
Messier y Hannezo, sin embargo, fueron hallados inocentes por un jurado federal en Manhattan, que deliberó durante tres semanas tras el juicio que comenzó en octubre.
El alcance de los daños no ha sido determinado. Un abogado de Vivendi, Paul Saunders, dijo que la firma planea apelar.
