La banda irlandesa U2 ofrecerá la semana que viene un concierto gratuito frente a la Puerta de Brandenburgo, en Berlín, coincidiendo con la entrega de los premios MTV Europa, que se entregarán esa misma noche en la capital alemana y para conmemorar el vigésimo aniversario de la caída del Muro de Berlín.
El evento del 5 de noviembre se hará cuatro días antes del vigésimo aniversario de la caída del muro de Berlín, un símbolo de la Guerra Fría que dividió a la ciudad y a Alemania. El muro fue derribado pacíficamente en los meses posteriores y las dos naciones se reunificaron 11 meses después en 1990.
"Será emocionante estar en ese lugar, casí 20 años después de la fecha en que cayó el muro", dijo el representante de U2, Paul McGuinness. "Debería ser divertido", añadió.

De acuerdo a MTV Networks International, una unidad de Viacom Inc, las entradas para asistir al concierto son gratuitos y están disponibles en www.u2.com y www.mtvema.com desde primera hora de la mañana del miércoles.
Jay-Z y Robbie Williams están entre los artistas que se presentarán en el show anual de MTV, una de las mayores ceremonias de premios para la música pop que se realiza fuera de Estados Unidos.
