El gol logrado anoche por Ruud Van Nistelrooy, que abrió el camino de la victoria de Holanda contra Italia (3-0), es legal para la UEFA, que considera que el delantero del Real Madrid no estaba en fuera de juego, en contra de las quejas italianas.
El secretario general de la UEFA, afirmó hoy que las críticas vienen por el desconocimiento del reglamento, ya que interpreta que el italiano Cristian Panucci habilitaba al delantero madridista, pese a que el defensa del Roma estaba fuera del terreno de juego.
"El gol se concedió de forma correcta. No mucha gente, incluso de los implicados en el juego, e incluyo a los jugadores, conocen esta interpretación", dijo hoy en conferencia de prensa en el Estadio S, Jacob de Basilea.
"La ley misma (art.11) no alude directamente a esta situación", indicó Taylor, que afirmó que los árbitros la interpretan de esta forma generalmente.
Taylor aseguró que la creencia general es pensar que el árbitro y sus ayudantes se equivoca, pero que la interpretación hecha por el árbitro sueco Peter Frojdfeldt y su ayudante fue la correcta.
"Aunque el defensa italiano estuviese fuera del campo, en ese momento aún puede formar parte del juego y eso se toma en consideración. Es un conocimiento profundo de la interpretación del fuera de juego que tienen los árbitros, pero no el público, ni mucha gente del fútbol", agregó.
