El Valencia, que necesita una victoria ante el Manchester United en Old Trafford para finalizar la primera fase de la Liga de Campeones como líder de su grupo, ha ganado un tercio de los partidos jugados a domicilio en el conjunto de su participación en esta competición.
El Manchester United lidera el grupo con trece puntos mientras que el Valencia es segundo con diez, por lo que el equipo español necesita ganar en Manchester para ser primero, ya que con una victoria igualaría a puntos a su rival y sería líder por la diferencia de goles.
Si el Valencia gana por 0-1, le valdrá la diferencia general de los goles y si la victoria es por otro resultado, le bastará con la particular, ya que el Manchester ganó en Mestalla por 0-1.
Desde su debut en esta competición, en la campaña 99-2000, el Valencia ha jugado un total de 39 compromisos fuera de casa, incluidas las fases previas del torneo.
El balance es de catorce triunfos, quince empates y diez derrotas, lo que supone poco más de un tercio de victorias en estos compromisos.
Su último triunfo se produjo esta misma temporada, en el debut en la competición, cuando goleó al Bursaspor turco por 0-4. En la otra salida del grupo, empató a uno frente el Rangers en Glasgow.
Además, en el estadio de Old Trafford, en el que jugará ante el Manchester United, el Valencia acumula dos empates y una derrota, con un sólo gol a favor, logrado en propia meta por un defensor del equipo británico.
Por contra, el Manchester United sólo ha perdido uno de los últimos 52 partidos que ha jugado en casa, cuando el Besiktas turco se impuso por 0-1 en la pasada campaña.
El Manchester ha sufrido siete derrotas en los 137 encuentros disputados como local, aunque dos de ellas se produjeron ante equipos españoles como el Real Madrid y el Deportivo de la Coruña.
