El español Alejandro Valverde (Caisse d'Epargne) tras su victoria en el criterium Dauphiné Liberé quedó a dos puntos del australiano Cadel Evans en la clasificación general del UCI Pro Tour.
Con sus 58 puntos obtenidos este último fin de semana, el murciano totaliza 83 puntos, diez más que el tercero del podio, el italiano Damiano Cuengo.
Por su parte, en la clasificación por equipos, el Astana de Luxemburgo continúa al frente con 125 puntos, seguido por el Caisse D'Epargne español a 15 unidades; el CSC danés es tercero con 107.
El Tour de Suiza, que comenzó este último sábado y finaliza el próximo domingo, la Clásica de San Sebastián del 2 de agosto y el Tour Eneco, del 20 al 27 de agosto, son las próximas pruebas del calendario.
