El Villarreal estudia seriamente la opción de que el recién fichado delantero estadounidense Jozy Altidore no sea cedido a otro club y forme parte de la primera plantilla para la próxima temporada, informaron fuentes del club villarrealense.
Los dirigentes del Villarreal valoran esta posibilidad porque consideran que sería la mejor forma de que el futbolista, de 18 años y procedente del Red Buill Sports de Nueva York, se adapte a su nuevo equipo y a la Liga española.
El delantero tendrá que jugar casi con toda seguridad los Juegos Olímpicos de Pekín, por lo que no podrá realizar la pretemporada con su equipo.
Esta circunstancia preocupa en el seno del club y su juventud y su llegada de un fútbol como el americano, hace que en el seno de la entidad que dirige Fernando Roig se valore que sería clave que Altidore pueda ir creciendo en el Villarreal.
De esta forma, el Villarreal podría dejar a Jozy Altidore en Villarreal para que vaya a adaptándose al fútbol español, junto a sus nuevos compañeros. La decisión todavía no está tomada, aunque parece que puede ser la opción más clara en este momento para el futbolista, que ha fichado para seis temporadas.
