El ministro Miguel Arias Cañete se ha desmarcado esta tarde de la publicación del libro La vegetación de la Biblia, editado por el Ministerio de Medio Ambiente y Medio Rural y Marino y distribuido esta semana.
El volumen, escrito por el ingeniero de montes José Javier Nicolás, pretende "acrecentar el conocimiento de la Biblia y del mundo vegetal mencionado en sus libros", según se sostiene en su prólogo, y llega a asegurar que los textos bíblicos están "inspirados por Dios".
Fuentes del Ministerio de Agricultura, Alimentación y Medio Ambiente, como se denomina desde el 22 de diciembre de 2011, explican que la impresión de 500 ejemplares del volumen ha costado 4.877 euros a las arcas públicas. Las facturas están fechadas el 28 de noviembre de 2011, cuando la socialista Rosa Aguilar era ministra en funciones. "El equipo actual no tiene nada que ver con este libro", explican desde el gabinete de Arias Cañete.
El grupo parlamentario Izquierda Plural ha pedido cuentas esta mañana al ministro por la publicación del volumen, que cuestiona que la famosa manzana del Génesis fuera tal.
La diputada de Iniciativa per Catalunya Laia Ortiz ha preguntado al Gobierno, a través del Congreso, si comparte "la opinión del autor sobre que la manzana de Adán y Eva debió ser un albaricoquero, un naranjo amargo, un pomelo o un membrillero". El libro, cuya existencia adelantó ayer Público, sostiene que no pudo ser un manzano, porque "no es originario de Palestina ni parece que exista asilvestrado en sus montes".
La diputada Laia Ortiz también ha preguntado esta mañana al Gobierno si prevé editar nuevas publicaciones relacionadas con el medio ambiente y la religión.
