Los productores de Avatar podrían estar tirándose de los pelos tras descubrir que su película ha conseguido el premio a la más pirateada de 2010, con 16millones de descargas, según la web TorrentFreak. Pero no, sigue consolándose con que su filme de muñecos azules (mucho más grandes que los Pitufos) sea el de mayor recaudación de la historia.
La obra de James Cameron, que ha recaudado cerca de 2.800 millones de dólares en todo el mundo desde su estreno en EEUU el 18 de diciembre de 2009, registró 16,5 millones de descargas este año a través del sistema P2P 'bittorrent', lo que supone un incremento del 33% respecto a la cinta más descargada de 2009.
A esa cifra habría que sumarle lo descargado mediante otras tecnologías y clientes P2P, además de las descargas directas (megaupload, rapidshare...), que ahora son las reinas del intercambio de archivos.
El año pasado, la cinta más pirateada fue Star Trek, con algo menos de 11 millones de descargas.
En la lista de este año, tras Avatar se encuentran Kick-Ass, de Matthew Vaughn, con 11,4 millones de descargas; Inception, de Christopher Nolan, con cerca de 10 millones; Shutter Island, de Martin Scorsese, con casi 9,5 millones, y Iron Man 2, con 8,8 millones.
La lista de las diez obras más descargadas la completan Clash of the Titans, de Louis Leterrier, con algo más de 8 millones de descargas; Green Zone, de Paul Greengrass, con 7,7 millones; Sherlock Holmes, de Guy Ritchie, con 7,1 millones; The Hurt Locker, de Kathryn Bigelow, con 6,8 millones, y Salt, de Phillip Noyce, con 6,7 millones.
The Hurt Locker se hizo con el Óscar a la mejor película en la pasada edición de los premios de la Academia de Hollywood. Ganó otros cinco: mejor director (Kathryn Bigelow), mejor edición, mejor guión original, mejor edición de sonido y mejor mezcla de sonido.
