El capitán del Liverpool, Steven Gerrard, no podrá medirse al Real Madrid en el Santiago Bernabéu en el partido de ida de los octavos de final de la Liga de Campeones, debido a que el diagnóstico ha confirmado que su rotura de fibras le mantendrá tres semanas apartado de la competición.
"El escáner realizado hoy ha confirmado la rotura de fibras de su pierna izquierda por lo que estará fuera tres semanas", indicó el Liverpool a través de un comunicado en su página web, lo que le deja casi sin opciones de medirse al Real Madrid el próximo día 25 en el Santiago Bernabéu.
El centrocampista internacional se lesionó ayer durante el encuentro de Copa ante el Everton, que se saldó con derrota de los 'reds' (1-0), por lo que tuvo que ser sustituido por su técnico Rafa Benítez a los 16 minutos de encuentro.
Así, el inglés, que tiene muy difícil viajar con el equipo para el partido de ida de la 'Champions', se perderá seguro el amistoso de la selección inglesa ante España el próximo día 11 en Sevilla. Gerrard es un jugador clave para el Liverpool y esta temporada ha disputado 35 encuentros y ha logrado 15 goles.
