El piloto finlandés Mikko Hirvonen (Ford) se ha proclamado hoy vencedor del Rally de Turquía, octava prueba de la temporada, y recuperó el liderato del Mundial de pilotos perdido hace dos semanas en el trazado griego de Acrópolis, tras imponerse a su compatriota Jari Matti Latvala (Ford) y al galo Sebastian Loeb (Citroen), mientras que el español Daniel Sordo (Citroen), finalizó la prueba en un meritorio cuarto puesto.
El nórdico, que empleó un tiempo final de 4h.42:07.1 segundos para acabar primero sobre los 67 kilómetros de la tierra turca, aventajó en 7.90 centésimas a su compañero de equipo Latvala, y en más de 25 segundos al vigente campeón del mundo, Sebastian Loeb. Con esta victoria, el piloto de Ford se vuelve a poner en cabeza del Mundial con un total de 59 puntos para aventajar en tres a Sebastian Loeb (56) y en 29 a su compatriota Latvala.
Por su parte, el piloto español Dani Sordo, acabó quedándose con la miel en los labios, pues acabó a un paso del podio tras terminar a dos minutos de Loeb. El cántabro, que peleó con uñas y dientes para defender su cuarta plaza ante los envites de Henning Solberg (Ford), finalizó el trazado otomano a dos minutos y veinticinco segundos del líder.
Con este cuarto puesto, el montañés se coloca en el quinto puesto del Mundial de pilotos con un total de 30 puntos, a tan solo cuatro del tercer clasificado Jari Matti Latvala y a uno del cuarto, el australiano Chris Atkinson (Subaru).
