Rafael Nadal venció a Tommy Robredo en el duelo español de la jornada, por 6-1 y 6-4, y se colocó en los cuartos de final del Masters 1000 de Shanghái.
El número dos del mundo solventó el partido en una hora y 32 minutos, para lograr la quinta victoria sobre Robredo con el que jamás ha cedido un solo set.
Nadal se enfrentará ahora con el croata Ivo Ljubicic, vencedor del francés Gael Monfils, por 6-2, 3-0 y abandono por lesión en la espalda.
El otro español en cuartos será Feliciano López, quien derrotó al austríaco Jurgen Melzer por 5-7, 7-6 (3) y 6-1, logrando su mejor resultado de esta temporada, donde se enfrentará contra el sueco Robin Soderling, finalista en Roland Garros.
En dos horas y ocho minutos, el toledano remontó un partido que se le había puesto complicado, después de perder el primer set y estar a solo dos puntos de la derrota antes del desempate.
