Bradley Wiggins ya está inscrito en el libro de oro del Tour de Francia al convertirse en el primer ciclista británico que gana la carrera, una vez disputada la vigésima y última etapa, un trámite de 120 kilómetros entre Rambouillet y París que culminó con la victoria al esprint de su compatriota Mark Cavendish, que redondeó la fiesta del equipo Sky.
Cavendish entró señalando con los dedos las cuatro victorias en París sobre las 23 que tiene en el Tour. Un esprint lejano, de nuevo impresionante del ciclista de Man, el primero que gana en esta ciudad con el maillot arco iris de campeón mundial.
Ganó el último pulso al eslovaco Peter Sagan (Liquigas) y al australiano Matthew Goss (Orica). Un regalo de Wiggins, que le preparó el esprint y un regalo para Wiggins, que cruzó la línea abrazando la gloria de ganar la carrera más importante del mundo.

El doble campeón olímpico y triple mundial en pista arrasó en las citas claves de Besançon u Chartres y aguantó en la montaña con los mejores.
