La presidenta regional, Esperanza Aguirre, afirmó hoy que en su momento se opuso a que se presentara un recurso de inconstitucioalidad en el caso de los matrimonios homosexuales "no porque pensara que jurídicamente no podía haber razón, sino porque entendía que eso se iba a interpretar como un ataque a los gays".
En declaraciones a los medios de comunicación después de visitar la sede del Servicio de Atención Social a Homosexuales y Transexuales de la Comunidad de Madrid, Aguirre aseguró que sigue "pensando lo mismo" que pensaba entonces, aunque matizó que "se podía perfectmente haber regulado las uniones entre las personas del mismo sexo sin necesidad de haberles llamado matrimonio".
En este sentido, consideró que "simplemente la palabra matrimonio era un deseo" del presidente del Gobierno, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, "de meterles el dedo en el ojo a los católicos, no de atribuir derechos" que, según señaló, "es lo que hay que hacer".
"Garantizar el ejercicio íntegro de todos sus derechos a todos los ciudadanos cualquiera que sea su orientación sexual", indicó.
"Queremos que Madrid sea esa región abierta a todo y a todos e integradora y tolerante de modo que todos el mundo se sienta libre cualquiera que sea su raza, su sexo, su orientación sexual o sus creencias", aseveró.
Además, añadió que en la Comunidad creen que "toda discriminación, por cualquier razón que sea, en este caso de la discriminación por la orientación sexual, debe ser erradicada" de manera que "toda persona que sienta que está padeciendo algún tipo de vejación, discriminación o problema por su orientación social debe ser atendida por servicios sociales".
