Mientras una marcha xenófoba autorizada por el Gobierno (convocada por el partido de extrema derecha Democracia Nacional) recorría ayer el centro de Madrid bajo el lema Vivienda Social, Prioridad Nacional. Ningún español sin casa, unos 200 antifascistas intentaron concentrarse en la Puerta del Sol, el lugar donde cerca de 70 manifestantes iban a dar el discurso racista.
El objetivo era, según rezaban los carteles de la convocatoria de la extrema izquierda, no permitir la presencia “fascista ni en las calles, ni en las urnas”. “No podemos consentir que campen a sus anchas por la ciudad”, decía uno de los jóvenes, mientras los manifestantes se acercaban coreando “la inmigración destruye la nación” o “España cristiana y no musulmana”.
Para evitar los enfrentamientos, la Policía Nacional desplegó un amplio dispositivo, con cerca de 20 furgonetas de antidisturbios. Antes de que la marcha alcanzase la plaza, varios miembros de extrema izquierda desplegaron pancartas en la zona e intentaron concentrarse.
Los efectivos policiales les desalojaron y empezó el alboroto. Por las callejuelas que rodean la plaza, los radicales tumbaron contenedores, lanzaron botellas de vidrio y levantaron improvisadas barricadas para esconderse de las bolas de goma que disparaba la Policía. El saldo final: varios detenidos y destrozos en tiendas y terrazas.
