La Federación Estatal de Lesbianas, Gays, Transexuales y Bisexuales (FELGTB) ha mostrado hoy su satisfacción por la cirugía de reasignación sexual realizada por primera vez a un menor en Barcelona , pero ha pedido que en este tipo de casos no sea necesaria la autorización judicial.
El trámite judicial "retrasa inexplicablemente la realización de la cirugía de reasignación sexual (CRS) y vulnera el derecho al libre desarrollo del o la menor", ha señalado FELGTB en un comunicado.
El menor de 16 años sufría una distrofia de género desde los 5 años, según el cirujano Iván Mañero, que realizó la intervención en Barnaclínic, un centro privado ubicado en el recinto del Hospital Clínic, el único hospital público del país que cuenta con una unidad específica para tratar este tipo de disfunciones sexuales, pero que no opera.
La menor "contaba con el apoyo familiar y el aval del equipo médico", pero no pudo ser operada hasta que el pasado mes de noviembre recibió una sentencia judicial favorable, ha recordado FELGTB.
"Negar la transexualidad hasta la mayoría de edad sólo alarga el sufrimiento de la juventud trans que debería tener los mismos derechos que el resto y el poder para decidir contando, por supuesto, con la opinión de los profesionales sanitarios", ha afirmado la coordinadora del Área Trans de la FELGTB, Mar Cambrollé.
Además, Cambrollé ha reclamado una modificación en los protocolos de los hospitales públicos para que den cabida a las operaciones de menores trans, ya que ésta ha sido la razón por la que el menor operado ha tenido que acudir a un centro privado para someterse a la cirugía.
