La alcaldesa de Santoña (PP), Milagros Rozadilla, se ha defendido ante la polémica surgida a raíz de su participación en un homenaje falangista a Carrero Blanco.
Rozadilla, que pronunció su discurso rodeada de banderas franquistas y falangistas, asegura que simplemente asisitió al acto para reivindicar la figura de una "persona polifacética, que navegó y escribió", sin ninguna pretensión de "hablar de su condición política".

"Me invitaron a participar en el acto por el 38º aniversario de la muerte de Carrero Blanco, no tiene más trascendencia", sostiene la alcaldesa conservadora, quien añade además que homenajear a Carrero es también recordar a "todas las víctimas del terrorismo y hacer extensivo ese dolor a todas". "No he hablado de Carrero Blanco como político, sino como una víctima más de la banda terrorista ETA", concluye.
Rozadilla ha recordado que el que fue presidente del Gobierno durante la etapa franquista es, todavía hoy, hijo predilecto de Santoña y aún conserva una calle y un monumento en esa localidad.
El hecho de que la alcaldesa conservadora haya participado pronunciando su discurso ante banderas franquistas y falangistas ha avivado aún más la polémica. Sin embargo, a esto Rozadilla también ha querido restarle importancia. "El hecho de que yo esté delante no significa que yo ampare nada", ha asegurado.

En cuanto a cómo puede afectar el asunto al Partido Popular, Rozadilla apunta que existe "un interés especial en suscitar esta polémica" pero que no está preocupada. "Al final el movimiento falangista tiene sus símbolos e interpreta la participación política a su manera. El partido falangista está legalizado y sus símbolos son legales", ha defendido.
La alcaldesa conservadora mantiene que "cada momento tiene sus vivencias, sus personajes y formas de participación", y que el falangismo "tuvo su momento". Aunque hay gente que permanece afín al movimiento, afirma, "lógicamente no es mi época, pero lo que hago es respetar cualquier opinión".
