El debate queda cerrado, por lo menos, hasta el próximo congreso, en 2009. El Partido Comunista de España (PCE) tumbó ayer, en su Conferencia Política, a su 20% de los delegados que pedían romper con IU y que comenzó a gritar en pequeños focos (Asturias, Sevilla, Castilla y León) tras el 9-M. La dirección del partido ya había renunciado a avalar esas tesis minoritarias porque su principal motor hasta noviembre es “ganar la IX Asamblea de IU”. Que a nadie se le olvide, recalcó en su discurso de apertura el presidente ejecutivo del PCE, Felipe Alcaraz.
“Necesitamos cohesión. Vencer en la asamblea es la primera meta para una IU distinta, alternativa, que funcione como movimiento político y social, anticapitalista”. Para ello, insistió Alcaraz, “hay que fortalecer al PCE, un partido que ha decidido no presentarse a elecciones, pero lo ha hecho para luchar por una fuerza transformadora”.
La conferencia, que concluye hoy, pretende “cerrar filas, mostrar músculo, enseñar un frente común” contra el rival, reconoce un dirigente del PCE. “No les interesa romper con IU. Felipe y Paco [Frutos, secretario general del partido] han cancelado el debate, pero está por ver qué harán si pierden la asamblea”, plantean en similares términos dos líderes gasparistas. Un miembro de la tercera vía destaca que se haya impuesto “por ahora” en el PCE “la tesis de que no hay que tirar la toalla aún en IU”.
La reunión de ayer integró el manifiesto del ex diputado Antonio Romero, con el que el PCE se “desvincula” del pacto constitucional. “Damos carpetazo público por primera vez a la etapa de Santiago Carrillo. De aquello que se nos prometió, nada se ha cumplido”, zanja Romero.
